To honor the third place finish by the Men's Outdoor Track and Field team at the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Championships held at Charlotte, North Carolina May 24-26, a Celebration Week will be held from June 4-8 to honor their top accomplishments.

The Dragons trailed national champion TAMU-Kingsville (65 points) and Ashland (51), totaling 50 points at the event. The finish continued a run of excellence over the last three years that has included a second place and two third place finishes at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships and 37 All American Outdoor citations over that period.

Today's honorees are Jonte Baker and Reginald Thomas. Both earned First Team All American honors with their performances in the 100 meters.

Baker was the top finisher for TU, taking 5th overall with a time of 10.36. He ran his best 100 time of the year at Nationals, jumping from 14th place nationally entering the event to 5th in the finals. The outdoor All American honor joins his two First Team All American indoor honors in the 60 meters obtained in 2017 and 2018.

Thomas, meanwhile, finished 7th overall in 10.54. He finished three spots higher than national ranking of 10th entering the championships. The performance continues Thomas's outstanding track career, as he has totaled 2 First Team All American honors in the outdoor 100 and three First Team honors in the indoor 60. He also has been part of All American 4x100 relay teams over the last three seasons (2 First Team efforts, 1 Second Team).
