Burrows, Curtiss honors continue Celebration Week

To honor the third place finish by the Men's Outdoor Track and Field team at the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Championships held at Charlotte, North Carolina May 24-26, a Celebration Week will be held from June 4-8 to honor their top accomplishments.

The Dragons trailed national champion TAMU-Kingsville (65 points) and Ashland (51), totaling 50 points at the event. The finish continued a run of excellence over the last three years that has included a second place and two third place finishes at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships and 37 All American Outdoor citations over that period. 

Today's honorees are Nikolas Curtiss and Cameron Burrows. Both players earned First Team All American honors with their achievements at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Curtiss enjoyed a banner debut season for TU, finishing second in the nation in the shot put with a throw of 18.75 meters. He exceeded expectations, as he was the fourth seed entering competitiion but responded with his best toss of the season. Earlier this season Curtiss earned a Second Team All American honor with a 10th place finish in the indoor national competition.

Burrows, meanwhile, continued his stellar Dragons career, finishing 4th in the high jump. He cleared the bar with 2.12 meters, his best outdoor showing as a Dragon. Last year he finished 11th in the outdoor championship. Overall Burrows already has five All American honors to his credit (2 outdoor).
