Vogel, Ngandu take titles on day one of GLIAC Championships

Tiffin University had two champions on day one of the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Ashland, Ohio.

Vincent Vogel won the long jump competition with a leap of 7.57 meters, hitting a provisional mark in the process. James Ngandu also won the 10,000 meters with a solid time of 31:22.16.

TU also placed high and hit provisional marks in a number of other events. Eric Jackson was 2nd in the discus with a provo mark of 53.54, while Stephen Korir was 3rd in the 3000 steeplechase in 9:10.92 for another NCAA mark. 

Cameron Burrows was 3rd in the high jump with 2.09 meters while also taking 4th in the long jump with 7.24. Both marks were also provisional numbers.

Also getting points for TU were Toryko Grace (4th in discus), Collin Blochlinger (8th in javelin), and Chase Brentlinger (8th in 10K).

In preliminary action, TU got three more provisional marks. Reginald Thomas was 1st in the 100 in 10.35, while Jonte Baker was 3rd in 10.37. Mackenzi Rickman was 2nd in the 110 hurdles in 14.13.

Also advancing to finals action are Josh Jaster (1st in 1500 in 4:01.94), Errik Snell (5th in 110 hurdles), Nathaneal Wilson (8th in 110 hurdles), Duane Boyd (6th in 100), Kerwin Jackson (8th in 400 hurdles), and Michael King (3rd in 200 in 21.45).
