Tiffin University opened its outdoor track and field season with a dual against Wingate at the Wingate Open, with the men winning 81-47.
Tiffin excelled in the field events, hitting numerous provisional marks. Nikolas Curtiss hit an automatic qualifying mark in the shot put with 18.46 meters while taking first, while Kyle Stump was second with 15.68.
Toryko Grace won the hammer throw with a provisional mark of 57.54, with Curtiss finishing second with 51.85. Another provisional mark was achieved in the high jump by Cameron Burrows with a clearance of 2.06 meters. Vincent Vogel also won the long jump with a provisional post of 7.57, and Jalon Monigan also hit a provisional mark in the triple jump with 15.51.
Tiffin also won a number of running events. Michael King won the 200 meters with 21.87, while Monigan also won the 400 in 51.89. Isaac Boateng posted the winning time in the 800 in 1:58.93, while Kerwin Jackson also won the 400 hurdles in 56.98.
Trenton Yoder was another winner in the 3000 steeplechase in 10:19.59, and Mackenzi Rickman crossed the line first in the 110 hurdles in 14.92.
Posting runner-up finishes were Duane Boyd (100 in 11.18), Drew Hickman (200 in 22.24), Josh Jaster (1500 in 4:10.43), Errik Snell (110 hurdles in 14.98), and the 4x100 relay team in 42.74.
Meanwhile, at the Raleigh Relays, James Ngandu started the outdoor season in as electrifying a fashon as he concluded the indoor season. Competing against a field of 62 runners covering all NCAA Division, Ngandu obliterated his own school record in the 10,000 meters, posting a time of 28:45.96 to take first and smash his personal time by more than 30 seconds. The time was also an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the event.
