Vogel wins long jump title on Day One of GLIAC Championships

Vincent Vogel posted the first individual championship for Tiffin University, winning the long jump on Day One of the GLIAC Championships.

Vogel hit an automatic qualifying mark with a huge leap of 7.61 meters (24-11.75) to win the title.. Kevin Roberts also finished 6th in the event.

Overall, Grand Valley State led the way with 38 points, followed by Ashland with 27 and Tiffin with 26.

The Dragons had a productive day one, hitting 9 NCAA marks. The DMR squad of Jaster, Jackson, Carlton, and Ngandu took third in a provisional time of 10:01.08, while Toryko Grace was 7th in the weight throw with an NCAA mark of 18.85 meters.

TU hit many more NCAA marks in preliminary action. Reginald Thomas was 1st in the 60 meters with 6.78 while Jonte Baker was right behind in second with 6.79. Thomas also hit a provisional mark in the 200 prelims in 21.76, good for third place.

Mackenzi Rickman was 2nd in the 60 hurdles prelims in a provisional time of 8.10, while Errik Snell was 3rd in 8.16, another NCAA mark. Nathaneal Wilson also qualified for the finals in 9th place.

Drew Hickman hit an NCAA mark in the 400 prelims, taking 2nd in 48.29.
