Dragons Rout Walsh to Host first Round in GMAC Tournament

The Tiffin University men's soccer team routed Walsh University 7-2 to clinch a home game in the GMAC Championship tournament. 

The Dragons improve to 5-3 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while Walsh falls to 3-7-1 overall and 2-7 in the conference. 

Before the start of today's game, the men's soccer program honored its four-member senior class composed of Odun Obebe, Samuel Costello, Eduardo Carvalho, and Adam Bell

With home playoffs at stake, the Dragons wasted no time as Juan Rosique scored four minutes and 39 seconds into the game, assisted by Mounir Boutarfa to lead 1-0. 

At the 27:11 mark, senior Odun Obebe scored his first goal of the season off a beautiful pass from Rosique to double their advantage. 

Three minutes later Caleb Gibbons scored to lead 3-0. Then, in the 36th minute Michael Owusu scored his first goal of the season assisted by Emre Cevik to lead by four. 

Five minutes before halftime Walsh scored a goal to cut the Dragons lead to 4-1.

After halftime adjustments, the Warriors scored a second unanswered goal to cut the lead in half. 

The Dragons took control of the game with a goal from Ignacio Mazarro, his first of the season, to lead 5-2. Rosique scored his second of the day at the 59:43 mark and Landon Evans scored in the 74th minute to seal the 7-2 win over Walsh.

Tiffin held a 16-8 edge in shots and did not allow a corner kick in the game while taking 6. Tiffin's defense also allowed just 5 total shots on goal for the Cavaliers.

Declan Lehman got the win in goal, making 3 saves over 75 minutes, while David Rinderle finished up over the final 15 minutes.
