Dragons clinch playoff spot with 3-0 shutout at Walsh

Tiffin University (8-4-3, 6-4-2 GMAC) picked up a much-needed win at Walsh, securing a spot in the GMAC tourney with a 3-0 shutout.

The Dragons, who were tied with Walsh entering the contest, helped themselves with two first half goals as they outshot the Cavaliers 10-4 in the first 45 minutes.

Joel Daly scored an unassisted goal in the 35th minute and then got a big insurance goal two minutes later when Caleb Gibbons scored off a pass from Lukas Manneck to make it 2-0 at halftime.

The defense took over from there, allowing no shots on goal in the second half. Gideon Fomba scored the final goal in the 87th minute off a pass from Aaron McCready.

Overall TU outshot Walsh 13-12 including 7-4 on goal. They also held a d6-2 edge in corner kicks.

Dylan Morris got the shutout in goal, making 4 saves.
