TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin men's basketball outscored Fanshawe College by 40 in the second-half to cruise to a 116-73 victory over the Falcons on Wednesday night.
Fanshawe, a school from London, Ontario, battled hard to just a three-point deficit at the half, but the Dragon defense clamped down in the second period and held the Falcons to just 31 points.
Tiffin shot 56.8% from the field in the game, and dished out nearly twice as many assists as the Falcons at 24-13. The Dragons outscored the Falcons in the paint (64-44) and on the break (28-8), while also getting 55 points from their bench.
A big difference in the game was in the turnover battle, where Fanshawe coughed up the ball 35 times compared to 16 for TU. This led to Tiffin having a 40-18 advantage in points off turnovers.
Six Dragons were in double figures, led by 18 from Jairus Stevens along with seven rebounds and three assists. Joshua Williams was next with 16 points and four steals, followed by Austin Schaub with 13 points including a perfect 3-3 from deep.
Wesley Jordan also chipped in 12 points, while Ian Kelly added 10 off the bench. Jamaal Clifton had his first double-double in a Dragon uniform, tallying 11 points and 10 boards. Brevin Brimble added a team-high five steals along with nine points, while Jaden Terry dished out five assists.
Fanshawe came to play early, leading for much of the first-half helped by leading scorer Marko Maletic having 16 points in the opening period. The Dragons were able to regain the lead in the final five minutes of the half, though, and take a three-point advantage, 45-42, into halftime.
Tiffin responded immediately out of the locker room, as a Stevens and-one ignited a 27-6 run for the Dragons that put TU on top 72-48 with 14:17 to play. During that run, the Falcons did not score for nearly four minutes.
With the Dragons in the double bonus early, that margin never got any smaller, as Tiffin forced turnover after turnover and had their way offensively for the rest of the game.
All 12 Dragons in uniform scored in the game, including Eric Turner's first five points of the year in his second game back from injury.
The Dragons will hit the road on Friday, heading south to take on Kentucky State at 6:00 p.m.
