Men's Basketball Slotted Ninth in G-MAC Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) has released the 2018-19 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, and Tiffin received 53 points to rank ninth out of 13 teams before their inaugural voyage in the new conference.

Basketball powerhouse Findlay received 136 points and seven first-place votes to take the top spot in the poll, followed by Hillsdale with 125 points and three first-place votes and Walsh with 117 points and 2 first-place votes. Lake Erie received the only other first-place vote, but was slotted in sixth in the poll.

The Dragons will look to make some noise in their first season in the G-MAC as first-year head coach Tom Church brings a new system and level of excitement to Tiffin men's basketball. TU brings back nine players from last year's squad, including four of five starters. Leading scorer and rebounder Austin Adams (14.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg) is back for his senior campaign, joined by big man Shane Waldon (9.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and perimeter threat Justin Miller (8.5 ppg, 40.5 3pt %).

Church also brings in five newcomers to the team, consisting of three freshmen and a pair of transfers.

Tiffin will open the 2018-19 season with a pair of exhibition games on the road against Division I opponents, Butler on Oct. 28 at 2:00 p.m. and Bowling Green on Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m. The regular season will begin at the G-MAC/GLVC Crossover Challenge in Maryville, Mo. on Nov. 9-10, as the Dragons take on host Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis. The first home game will be during the Tiffin University Thanksgiving Tournament held Nov. 23-24.
