Hawks edge Dragons 72-71

Box Score

It was too little, too late for the Tiffin University men's basketball team on Friday, falling behind early against Quincy University, and then making a furious comeback that fell just short 72-71.

The Dragons managed only 24 points in the 1st half, and allowed the Hawks to score 35. Tiffin hit only 26.7% of their shots in the 1st half, while Quincy hit at a 53.8% clip. Tiffin's shortcomings at the foul line in the 1st half (6-10), continued to hamstring TU in the 2nd half.

The Hawks continued to lead the vast majority of the 2nd half, but Tiffin made a late charge to make the game a barn burner. The Dragons actually took a one point lead with 03:30 left in the game. The two teams traded leads for the remainder of the contest, with the Dragons' foul shooting coming back to haunt them. Tiffin twice went to the foul line, in the bonus, and missed the front end of the opportunity. Quincy was able to hold off the Dragons, escaping with a 72-71 win.

Tiffin scored 47 points in the 2nd half, hitting 38.5% of their shots from the field, 36.8% from beyond the arc, and finished 14 of 21 from the charity stripe. Alex Brown led the Dragons, scoring 19 points on 7 of 14 shooting from the field. Tony Kynard added 17 points, Brandon Wilkins chipped in with 10 points, and Khaleal McCormick led Tiffin on the glass with eight rebounds.

The loss drops the Dragons to 2-3 overall.
