The Tiffin University men's basketball team dropped their GLIAC opener on Thursday night, falling 74-56 to the Northwood University Timberwolves.

Tiffin got off to a slow start offensively in the 1st half, but were able to maintain a lead until the eight minute mark in the opening half. Northwood used a 29-11 run in the final eight minutes of the 1st half to take a 40-24 lead at the half.

Tiffin was doubled up from the field, making only eight field goals compared to Northwood's 16 made shots. One of the main differences in the half was the Timberwolves' accuracy from long range. Northwood hit six three point shots, while Tiffin was blanked from beyond the arc. Northwood also held a decisive advantage on the glass 21-12, which would carry over for the remainder of the game. The Dragons were led in scoring by Tony Kynard and Alex Brown with six points each.

Tiffin started the 2nd half on a 11-5 run to cut their deficit to 10 points, but couldn't get any closer as Northwood continued to pour in three point buckets. Northwood hit six more three point jumpers in the 2nd half, and continued to win the battle of the boards, holding a 22-19 advantage in the half. The Timberwolves converted their rebounding advantage into 14 second chance points, and added 20 more points off Tiffin's 13 turnovers. At the final horn, Northwood topped the Dragons by the final count of 74-56.

The Dragons hit 35.4% of their shots from the field, 76.9% from the charity stripe, and hit only 2 of 13 shots from three point range. Tiffin struggled on the glass, being beaten on the boards 43-31. The Dragons were led in scoring by Tony Kynard and Juwan Johnson with 12 points each. Khaleal McCormick added 10 points, and Austin Adams chipped in with six points off the bench.

The Dragons drop to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in GLIAC play.
