Tiffin Topples Cavaliers 81-71

The Tiffin University men's basketball team rebounded with a huge 81-71 road victory at Walsh University on Saturday afternoon. 

Tiffin was hot in the 1st half, hitting 50% of their field goal attempts. The Cavaliers kept pace with Tiffin, holding a lead for a short time in the 1st half. Tiffin took a 16-15 lead with a Brandon Wilkins layup, and used Juwan Johnson's made 3-pointer to lead 19-15. Tiffin's lead ballooned to 10 points with a Mohamed Rage jumper making it a 29-19 ballgame. Walsh closed the gap towards the end of the half, sending Tiffin to the half with a 36-30 lead.

Walsh made it tough on Tiffin in the 2nd half, using an 18-6 run to take a six point lead with 14:38 remaining. Tiffin continued to chip away at Walsh, taking the lead with 09:14 left on a pair of Ellis Williams made free throws. Tiffin took off after reclaiming the lead, plowing ahead with a 9-2 run to lead 68-60 with 06:09 left. The lead swelled to 13 before a late Cavalier bucket brought the score to its finale, an 81-71 Tiffin victory.

The Dragons were able to break out of their shooting struggles, hitting 56.4% of their attempts. Tiffin also hit four more 3-point shots than Walsh, and held a 16-11 lead in the points-off-turnovers category. 

Tiffin was led by Khaleal McCormick with 25 points on 9 of 14 shooting. Austin Adams added 18 points on 70% shooting from the floor, and Juwan Johnson and Alex Brown each scored 13 points.

The win moves the Dragons to 9-11 overall and 5-8 in the GLIAC.
