Dragons rise to 16th in AFCA poll

Tiffin University rose three spots to 16th in the latest AFCA Division II rankings.

The Dragons were joined in the rankings by Ashland, who received votes. The poll was topped by West Florida. Ferris State was ranked second while Minnesota State was tabbed third. Indianapolis, which the Dragons tangle with in week 3, is ranked 12th.

Tiffin posted a 34-10 win over 9th-ranked (NAIA) Marian on the road to open their 2021 season, exhibiting a tough defense that registered 8 sacks and 2 interceptions while holding Marian to 35 rushing yards. TU officially claimed the GMAC championship title in 2020 under Great Midwest Coach of the Year Cris Reisert with an undefeated run through the league standings this spring to officially make it back-to-back trophies. The Dragons had also won the conference trophy in 2019 while qualifying for the NCAA Championship Super Region 1 bracket. They have amassed a 16-2 mark over the last three seasons.
