Quarterback Nick Watson earned G-MAC Week One Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The first series of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week honors were announced Monday morning after all nine institutions kicked off their season.

Tiffin's Nick Watson was named Offensive Player of the Week after leading TU to a 40-27 win over Northwood.

Watson directed the Tiffin offense with surgical precision to help the Dragons topple the Timberwolves in the season opener.

After starting 10 games and earning GLIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention status as a freshman, he started his tenure in the Great Midwest as well as anyone could expect.

Watson completed over 82 percent of his passes with 24 completions out of 29 tries for 317 yards and three touchdowns. His 82.3 completion percentage is second all-time for a single game in conference history (Rhys Gervais – 92.9 on 13-of-14 vs. Tuskegee).

Watson had scoring strikes of 3, 7 and 75 yards, as Tiffin cashed in three times from the red zone. He capped an 11-play scoring drive on Tiffin's first possession of the season with a TD to Tyler Denton.

His 75-yard connection with WR Charles Holland gave the Dragons a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter, ranking as one of the longest passing plays in conference history.
