Dragons Picked 4th in GMAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

The Tiffin University football program will begin their maiden voyage in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference this season, and will do so with a 4th place projected finish. The Dragons are coming off a 6-5 record last season, finishing tied for 4th in the GLIAC.

The Dragons received 48 points in the coaches' poll, and a single first place vote. Directly ahead of Tiffin is Hillsdale with 51 points. The Dragons are 2-1 against the Chargers in their last three meetings, and will travel to Hillsdale on November 3, for their 10th game of the year. The University of Findlay checks in at #2 in the poll with 54 points and two first place votes. The Oilers and Dragons will meet on November 10 for the regular season finale at Frost-Kalnow Stadium. The leader of the pack is Ohio Dominican University. The Panthers received 59 points and five first place votes. The Panthers finished last season as conference champions with a perfect 7-0 record. Tiffin and Ohio Dominican will play on October 20, at Frost-Kalnow Stadium.

Directly below Tiffin are the two Canton area institutions, with Walsh sitting 5th and Malone 6th. The Dragons are a combined 5-2 against the two schools over the course of the last five seasons. Alderson Broaddus is 7th in the poll with 23 points. The Battlers and Dragons will meet for the first time ever on September 15, in Philippi, West Virginia. Lake Erie College is slotted 8th, coming off a 2-8 campaign a year ago. The Dragons are 3-3 all-time against the Storm, but have beaten Lake Erie each of the last two seasons by an average margin of 38 points. Kentucky Wesleyan rounds out the poll with 13 points. Tiffin is 2-0 all-time against the Panthers. The last matchup was a 35-17 win for Tiffin back on October 6, 2007. 

The Dragons return nine starters on offense, seven on defense, and a total of 47 lettermen. The regular season begins on September 1 for Tiffin, hosting Northwood University at Frost-Kalnow Stadium.
