It has been a struggle for the Panthers thus far, averaging only 131.5 yards of total offense per game. The quarterback position is in a merry-go-round state, as three different signal callers have been used so far. Hunter Krause has looked the best, completing 10 of 13 passes for 11 yards and one touchdown. Davenport has scored only one offensive touchdown this season, and has been held out of the end zone on the ground. The Panthers are averaging a GLIAC worst 33.5 rushing yards per game. As an offensive unit, Davenport ranks last in total offense, total offense per game, rushing yards, rushing yards per game, passing yards, passing yards per game, point scored, rushing touchdowns, and passing touchdowns. The leading rusher for Davenport has gained only 24 yards, as three Panthers sit at that mark. The leading receiver is Nate Couturier with five receptions for 40 yards. The Panthers have found the red zone only once this season, being held out of the end zone. Third down has been a nightmare for the Panthers this season, converting only 4 of 27 attempts (15%). 

 

 

As a unit, the Panthers' defense is 8th in the GLIAC in yards allowed per game, surrendering 392.0 yards. Through the air, opponents have gained 208.5 yards and have found the end zone twice. On the ground, the opposition is averaging 183.5 yards per game and has hit pay dirt seven times. Junior linebacker Brent Powers is the leading tackler, collecting 18 through two games. Kye Black is another top-notch backer to watch out for, claiming 16 tackles, one sack, and 3.5 tackles for loss. The Panthers have yet to force a turnover, and have allowed an average of 36.5 points per game. Opponents have had success against the Davenport secondary, completing 67% of their passing attempts. One area where the Panthers have done a nice job is on 3rd down, allowing the opposition to convert only 25% of the time. 

 

 

The Panthers have yet to attempt a field goal this season. They've used three different punters so far with Victor Shaver having the most attempts. Shaver is averaging 39.4 yards, but Jerred McGuire leads the group with a 43.0 yard average. Nate Couturier is a dangerous kickoff return man for the Panthers, averaging 24 yards per return. 

 

 

 

The Tiffin University offense rolled last Saturday, churning out 32 first downs, 443 yards of total offense, and 58 points. Tiffin showed great balance offensively, passing for 212 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 231 yards and six touchdowns. The Dragons dominated the time of possession, finishing with 35:00 minutes to Lake Erie's 25:00 minutes. Quarterback Nick Watson had a nice bounce back game, finishing 14-21 for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Nick also carried the ball eight times for 26 yards and a touchdown. Watson's favorite target through two games is Charles Holland. The senior wide receiver has hauled in 15 passes thus far, and against Lake Erie had eight grabs for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Victor Talley had a nice game for Tiffin, snagging three passes for 44 yards. On the ground, JaQuan Hardy saw the majority of the carries, rushing the ball 20 times for 95 yards. Hunter Rockwell was as opportunistic as they come against the Storm, carrying the ball nine times for 92 yards and four rushing touchdowns. Rockwell's four rushing touchdowns is the second most in a single game in Tiffin history. On 3rd down, the Dragons had success, converting 8 of 12. The offensive line kept the quarterback clean for the most part, allowing only one sack. 

 

 

As good as the Tiffin offense was last Saturday, the defense was better. At halftime against Lake Erie, Tiffin had surrendered only 11 yards of total offense and held the Storm to -14 yards rushing. For the game, Tiffin surrendered 120 yards of total offense on 59 plays (2.0 yards per play). Through the air, Tiffin allowed only 77 yards, and held the Storm to only nine completions. The ground game for the Storm was closed off by Tiffin as well, gaining only 43 yards on 36 carries. Tiffin forced one turnover as Delan Wynn intercepted Lake Erie and returned the ball inside the five yard line. The Dragons held the Storm to eight first downs, and allowed Lake Erie to convert only 3 of 16 3rd downs. It was a team effort defensively, as defensive lineman Vinny Jones, linebacker Brandon Burks, and defensive back Carrington Contee all finished with six tackles. Burks added a sack and two tackles for loss. The Dragons collected five sacks last Saturday, with 60% of the sacks coming from the defensive line. As a unit, the Dragons finished the game with 13 tackles for loss, costing Lake Erie 78 yards in offense. 

 

 

The tone was set on the opening kickoff, as Dontrael Brown returned the opening kick 70 yards to setup the Dragons' offense. Joe Metcalf finished the day 1 of 2 on field goal attempts and 7 of 8 on point after attempts. Harry McCollum punted only twice, booming a 51-yard punt for a 40.5 average.
