Weiser, Hennessy qualify for Regionals

The Tiffin University Equestrian Hunt Team traveled to Otterbein University for the first show of the spring semester.
 
In the Intermediate Fence Division, Carrie McCurrach had a beautiful round which placed her 2nd. Melissa Macechko rode a wonderful course putting her in 5th place. Paige McCaslin rode smoothly even though she had a few bumps in her jump course. During Novice Fences, Lindsay Weiser placed 3rd, pointing her up into Intermediate and qualifying her for regional finals.  Devyn Hennessy received 4th place with a strong ride.

The second half of the day was the flat classes, with Carolyn McCurrach receiving 5th place in the high level Open Flat division. In Intermediate Flat, Paige McCaslin drew a big dressage horse and rode hard, Lindsay Weiser rode well, and Melissa Macechko earned 4th in the class of twelve riders. In the Novice Flat division Sydney Cox came in 6th place, and Devyn Hennessy received 3rd place which qualified her for regional finals and moves her up to Intermediate Flat. In Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter, Calysta Herniter came in 4th place, Emily Boersen rode well in a tough class, Kaitlyn Borer received 4th place and Melody Lozano rode through a tough ride like a champion. In the Beginning Walk/Trot/Canter, Bridget Webber came in 3rd which moved her up to Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter. In the Walk/Trot division, Arissa Hendershot rode to a 3rd place finish.

The Tiffin University Equestrian team came in fourth overall out of nine teams. Otterbein was champion with 38 points, Ohio University reserve with 35, Ohio State third with 29, Tiffin fourth with 26, University of Dayton fifth with 23, Ohio Wesleyan sixth with 8, Kenyon seventh with 6 points, and Denison and Wilmington eighth with 2 points. 
 
The Dragons will return to Otterbein Sunday for day two.
