Dragons fall to Ashland 13-3 at GMAC tourney

Tiffin University (29-19) could not keep pace with Ashland at the GMAC Tournament, falling 13-3 to end their quest for the tournament championship.

The Dragons were plagued by four errors leading to five unearned runs, falling behind 8-1 after four innings.

Gunnar Boehm took the loss, lasting four innings and allowing four earned runs with six strikeouts. Five other TU pitchers tried to keep the Dragons in the game but allowed 7 runs (4 earned) over the final three innings.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, the Dragons cut the deficit in half. Griffin Stevens and Tim Orr both singled. With two outs, Nich Green laced a single to drive in a run and make it 2-1.

Ashland tallied three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to pull ahead by 7 runs. 

TU got a little closer in the fifth. Orr doubled and Shier brought him home with another double. A throwing error by the right fielder on Shier's double also allowed him to scamper home, cutting Ashland's lead to 8-3.

The Dragons could get no closer, however, as Ashland scored five more runs over the final two innings.

Stevens finished with three hits including a triple, while Orr also had two hits. Orr and Shier had doubles for the Dragons.
