Dragons Drop Series to Rams

BALTIMORE, Md. – Tiffin baseball dropped the third game of the season-opening series with Shepherd by a final score of 17-4 on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams (2-7) take the series over the Dragons (1-2) after the two teams split the doubleheader yesterday.

Zach Campbell continued his torrid opening weekend with three more hits and two more RBI, as the sophomore is now hitting .571 (8-14) with six RBI and three runs scored through three games. Brayden Callihan also had a good day, going 2-4 from the plate with an RBI and a pair of runs scored.

Cole Maxwell had a solid 2019 debut on the mound as well, throwing an inning and two thirds while giving up no runs and just one hit.

Shepherd got on the board first with a two-spot in the bottom of the first inning. The Dragons cut the deficit in half in the top of the third as Callihan singled, stole second, and scored on a Campbell base knock to right.

The Rams were able to score 13 unanswered runs over the next three innings, however, taking a 15-1 lead through six frames.

Tiffin got three back in the top of the seventh, starting with a Colin BeDell sacrifice fly to score Nich Green. Callihan followed with an RBI double to center, and was driven in on Campbell's single in the next at-bat.

Shepherd added two more runs before it was all said and done, taking the 17-4 victory.

Next up for the Dragons is a three-game set against Wayne State next Saturday and Sunday. The games will be played at the University of Cincinnati's Schott Stadium.
