Lakers Silence Dragons' Bats In Doubleheader Sweep

The Tiffin University baseball team salvaged one game in their four game set with Grand Valley State University, dropping a pair of games on Friday. Tiffin managed only only one run on four hits over the course of 16 innings on Friday, but were able to take game two 3-2, completing the game after it was called due to darkness on Thursday evening.

The Dragons were able hold on to game two after a stellar pitching performance by Luke Fraley. The Dragons held on 3-2 as Fraley tossed six innings while striking out a season high nine. Deylen Miley came on to slam the door, securing his third save of the year.

It was a slow go offensively for Tiffin in game three of the series. The Dragons managed only one hit over the course of seven innings, scoring only one run. The Lakers jumped on the Dragons from the opening frame, plating three runs over the course of the opening four innings. In the 6th inning the Lakers added four more runs on one hit, five walks, and a hit batter to take a 7-0 lead. The Dragons plated their only run in the 7th, with Cody Orr earning the run batted in with a hit by pitch.

The final game was dominated by Grand Valley State, as the Lakers kept the offensive train rolling with three runs in the opening inning. Grand Valley State added a single run in the 3rd, three more in the 5th, and a single run in the 8th to drop the Dragons 9-0.

Over the course of the series Tiffin managed only 15 hits and four runs, bringing their series average to a .134 clip.

Tiffin now sits 9-13 overall and 3-5 in the GLIAC.
