Tiffin rotation dominant in sweep

Game One

Luke Fraley has had an excellent start to his season thus far, and not much changed when he went to the rubber on Sunday. Fraley's offense spotted him an early lead with a run in the bottom of the 1st. With two down in Tiffin's half of the 1st, Jay Smith sliced a triple past Hillsdale's diving center fielder, and trotted home on Alec McCurry's single to right field. 

Through the first three innings, Hillsdale mustered only an infield single off Fraley, as he sliced and diced his way through the order. Luke tossed five shutout innings, allowing four hits, walking a batter, and striking out six. In the bottom of the 5th, Tiffin's Luke Brust led off with a single to left field. After the next two batters were retired, Jay Smith worked his magic again, cracking a double to left field to make it 2-0 Dragons.

After Fraley's five innings, Tiffin turned to the flame throwing Kevin Borst to silence Hillsdale. Borst stranded a runner at third in the 6th, and received some insurance from his offense. In the bottom of the 6th, with a man aboard and two outs, Kyle Lento clubbed a two run home run to left field to give the Dragons a 4-0 lead. Borst finished off Hillsdale with a pair of strikeouts to give Tiffin a 4-0 victory.

Luke Fraley earned the win on the mound, moving to 3-2 on the season. At the plate, Jay Smith was unstoppable, finishing 3 for 3 with two doubles, a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. Kyle Lento was 2 for 3 with a home run and two runs batted in.

Game Two

Tiffin's offense show little signs of slowing down, keeping the bats hot on a cold and overcast Sunday afternoon.

Max Dakin stated on the hill, striking out a pair of Chargers to end the top of the 1st. Luke Brust led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, old reliable stepped to the plate in the form of Jay Smith. Fresh off his 3 for 3 performance in game one, Smith sliced a double into the right field corner to score Brust. Smith moved to third on Ryan Thomas' single, and Kyle Lento pushed Smith to the plate with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Hillsdale tied the game with a pair of runs in the 3rd on two hits and an error. The tie score was gone in a flash, as the Dragons plated a run in their half of the 3rd on two hits and an error. Back to back singles by Smith and Fisk put two aboard for Tiffin. The Chargers were in the giving mood in the 3rd inning, handing Tiffin a 3-2 lead with a balk to score Smith.

The Dragons turned to their relievers in the 5th inning, summoning Hunter Carson from the bullpen. Carson allowed a run on two hits, to make it a 3-3 contest. 

The Dragons fired back in the bottom of the 5th, breaking the tie score with a run on an error and one hit. Ryan Thomas reached on an error, and motored home on Fisk's triple down the right field line to put Tiffin ahead 4-3. An inning later, the Dragons rattled the bats once more, scoring three runs to lead 7-3. The big blow in the frame came from Isaac Perry, smacking a towering majestic home run to left field. 

Hillsdale plated a single run in the 7th, but the Dragons countered with a run in the bottom half of the 7th and another run in the 8th to make it a 9-4 final score.

Hunter Carson earned the win in relief, tossing two innings. Tiffin pounded out 14 hits, with six batters collecting two hits. Perry finished 2 for 5 with a home run, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.

The sweep moves Tiffin back to .500 at 8-8 overall, In GLIAC play the Dragons are 2-0.
