Knights Sweep Dragons

The Tiffin University baseball team suffered a pair of setbacks on Sunday, falling 11-1 and 5-0 in their games against the Bellarmine University Knights.

Game One

The Knights blitzed the Dragons in the opening inning, scoring seven runs on six hits. The Dragons managed single hits in the 1st through 4th innings, but nothing resulted in a run. Bellarmine warmed the bats back up in the 4th, plating two runs on four hits. Tiffin's lone run came in the top of the 5th, with Kyle Lento scoring on Luke Brust's sacrifice fly to make it 9-1. The Knights tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom half of the 5th to make it an 11-1 game.

As a team, Tiffin managed eight hits, with Kyle Durham leading the way with a perfect 3 for 3 performance. Ricky Krieger took the loss on the mound for Tiffin, allowing six hits and seven earned runs.

Game Two

Looking for the split, Tiffin sent Luke Fraley to the mound. Fraley was touched up for a run in the bottom of the 1st with a home run to right field. Through the first five innings, Tiffin collected only three hits, missing out on a pair of scoring opportunities in the 3rd and the 5th innings. 

Bellarmine expanded their lead in the 6th, scoring three runs on three hits to lead 4-0. The final run of the game crossed in the 7th, with the Knights taking game two 5-0.

On the mound, Luke Fraley took the loss, tossing 5 1/3 innings allowing eight hits and four runs. Tiffin logged four hits, but punched out a dozen times and stranded seven runners.

The Dragons fall to 6-8 overall.
