Lucas Phillips

Lucas Phillips is entering his 12th year as Head Athletic Trainer for Tiffin University. He also serves as the Tiffin University Athletics Health Care Administrator. Since coming to Tiffin Lucas's primary sport responsibilities have covered a wide range of our Dragon programs.  Along the way he has been primary coverage for Dragon Football (2012-2019), cross country and track and field (2012-2013), swimming and diving (2013-2015), women's basketball (2015-2019), Stunt/Cheer (2019-2021), and women's lacrosse (2019-2023). His current duties involve Dragon women's soccer (2019-current), and Men’s Tennis (2021-current). He will be adding Women’s Tennis to that list in the Fall of 2023.

Prior to arriving at Tiffin, Phillips spent four years at Indiana University as an Assistant Football Athletic Trainer for the Hoosiers where he worked with several future NFL athletes.  He also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas, where he worked with the women's cross country (2007 SEC Champions), track and field, tennis, and soccer programs. While at Arkansas Lucas was the Lead Athletic Trainer hosting the 2007 and 2008 NCAA Division 1 Indoor Track and Field Championships, 2008 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championship, and the 2008 NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Regional Championship. During his undergraduate career, he served as an athletic training student at the University of Toledo from 2003-2006. While a student at Toledo, Lucas was a part of the medical staff for the 2004 MAC Champion Rocket football team and completed a summer training camp/preseason internship with the Cleveland Browns in 2005. 

Lucas has been certified by the NATABOC since 2006, a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) since 2006, the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association (GLATA), and the College Athletic Trainers Society (CATS) since 2009.

Lucas earned his BS in Exercise Science with a Concentration in Athletic Training from the University of Toledo in 2006, and he received his MEd in Workforce Development Education from the University of Arkansas in 2008.  In his free time, Lucas enjoys working in his vegetable garden, deer hunting, and spending time with his family.  Lucas resides in his hometown of Carey, Ohio with his wife Caroline, and two daughters, Isabel and Morgan.
