Gibbons had a breakout weekend at the GMAC Championships to help lead 4-seed Tiffin to a huge upset over 1-seed and nationally-ranked No. 4 Lake Erie in the semifinals followed by defeating 3-seed Cedarville to claim the Dragons' second-straight conference tournament title.
The freshman had been a solid starter and contributor for Tiffin all season with three goals and three assists entering the tourney, but Gibbons broke into the spotlight with the opening goal on an amazing one-time volley in the 2-1 win over the Storm.
The Maumee native then one-upped that performance with the lone goal in the championship game to earn the Dragons the automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Gibbons, along with the rest of the Dragons, will now head to the NCAA postseason for the second time in as many years. TU finds out their opponent, date, time, and location during the selection show Monday night at 6:30 p.m.
